F. Scott Fitzgerald

I have a feeling before I even started reading Babylon Revisited that I would like it because I love the Great Gatsby when I read it a couple years back. I love that the story is taken place in Paris because this city is a gorgeous place to imagine while reading the story. I'm confused on why the main character leaves his daughter at his brother-in-laws however. But now I understand a little bit and it was he used to have a drinking problem and ended up in a sanitarium. It's very sad that he can't get his daughter back. I wish I knew if he ended up getting his daughter.

T. Willimas

I loved william's A Streetcar Named Desire! The whole time while reading it I could picture the whole play in my head and how exciting and almost risqué the play is. I love the time period it's in to begin with. One of my favorites so when reading it, it made it more exciting to me. Out of all the characters, Blanche and Stella are my favorites because they are sisters but then their personalities and the way they live their lives are totally different. My least favorite character is Stanley because he seems to bring Stella and Blanche down when they are in a good mood or having a good day.

Free.....

I feel kind of bad for Mr. Haymaker because he never got the chance to pursue his dream and passion of art and architecture.  Also, because it seems like he sold himself short when marrying Mrs. Haymaker.  Sure he may have liked her back then, but I don't feel like he ever fully loved her at all.  Plus, he settled with her at such a young age that he didn't get to have fun it seemed like.  However, I feel a little bad for Mrs. Haymaker cause while she does everything to make her husband happy, he still secretly doesn't want to be with her.  He's becoming some what cynical about him not getting his freedom, but then sounds almost sympathetic and sad when he hears that there is a possibility of a transfusion.  It seemed that he felt guilty for thinking all the horrible, dark thoughts, but then he still liked the idea of being free.  In reality, the only thing he was free for now was that he is now free to die.

Class discussions......

......seem to get more and more heated every class. It could be a good thing and a bad thing. Good cause that means the class as a whole is getting more comfortable with each other to talk about anything. Bad because that means more opinions are being thrown out into discussion and more people disagreeing with some one's opinion or not liking that their own opinions get argued with.  I think what we all have to be is open and aware that not everyone is going to agree with each other on one certain thing. However, the more we discuss our opinions, the more we get to know each other and know what we like and what we don't like. As much as I enjoy class discussions, I wouldn't want anyone to get too upset or too heated over a topic. Let's hope that doesn't happen this quarter.

To Build A Fire....

...it turned out to be very sad that he did freeze to death. I felt kind of bad for the dog because all he could do was sit and watch the man lay there and die.  The old man who told the main character to always travel with someone in the cold weather is a very smart man. I would never have lived if I had to travel through the seventy-five below zero weather. I hate the cold weather that we have here so I know that I would have froze. I secretly wanted him to make it to the camp and the story would end in a happily ever after thing, but I also secretly knew that wasn't a possibility sadly.

The Story of An Hour

Personally, I am completely and utterly confused. In the begining, her husband was supposedly dead, then at the end he comes home alive and then she dies. What the heck!?!? I was glad to see her kind of move on from being sad and sitting in the chair by the window.  Then it turns out the whole time she had some kind of heart disease and then she dies.  Well there goes her wish of a long life.  However, since she is now dead, she can be free from everything like she wanted.  I guess from what it sounds like is that she may have died from a heart attack after seeing her husband, Brently, alive.
